In their own words
CloseZero
CloseZero is an AI accounting service for scaling startups, available through web and API. It brings multiple entities and currencies into one ledger, with source documents linked to entries. Its AI categorizes transactions, matches them to documents, and reconciles them against bank statement lines for review. It can extract vendor, amount, date, and tax details from receipts and supplier invoices, attaching the original file as evidence. The service describes a Stripe connection using a restricted key, lists Brex, Wise, Revolut, and HSBC, and accepts CSV or PDF bank statement imports. P&L, balance sheet, cash, burn, and runway reports update as entries arrive. Investor rooms offer scoped read-only access or point-in-time PDF packs, and access can be revoked. Accountants can work in the ledger and auditors can receive read-only seats; CloseZero says it does not replace either professional. The free plan costs nothing and has no time limit or card requirement below $10,000 MRR or $100,000 raised. Documents can be downloaded and a read API is available, but one-click export of the entire ledger is still to be built.
Finlens
Finlens is a web finance platform with a dashboard for managing accounting workflows. It connects accounts, uses AI to categorize transactions, drafts journal entries and accruals, routes exceptions for review, and syncs approved results to QuickBooks. Automation includes Stripe revenue recognition, onboarding, prepaid schedules, and transaction categorization. Finlens works on top of QuickBooks with real-time two-way synchronization, so migration is not required. The company lists more than 200 app integrations, while Plaid connections cover 1,100+ integrations and 12,000+ institutions. AI features include transaction categorization, journal-entry suggestions, recommendations, financial analysis, and natural-language questions about financial data. Finlens lists encryption in transit and at rest, private-network databases, role-based access, tenant isolation, webhook-signature verification, audit trails, and encrypted backups. The Starter plan is listed at $0 per month with one bank account and one user; AI Accounting costs $49 a month and supports up to three bank accounts and unlimited users. Setup is described as taking less than 10 minutes with connected accounts.
