Overview

Nimbus RMS combines online and offline checkout with inventory controls and retail reporting. Offline sales sync to the cloud when internet service returns, helping stores keep trading through a connection outage. It supports apparel and fashion, grocery and convenience, electronics and mobile, wholesale, and multi-location retail.

Checkout accepts cash, cards, mobile wallets, gift cards, loyalty points, and credit, with the option to split a sale across payment types. That flexibility can accommodate varied payment preferences, while the free plan's 100-receipt monthly cap makes it a poor fit for a busy shop.

Key features

Stock and reporting

Location-wide stock visibility, low-stock alerts, reorder points, and inventory transfers help retailers coordinate replenishment rather than manage each shop in isolation. Real-time sales and margin dashboards give operators a current view of performance; custom reports by store, region, or SKU make it possible to examine results at the level that matters to the business.

Store operations and integrations

Retailers can manage pricing, promotions, and permissions centrally across stores. Apparel businesses can track sizes and colors as separate inventory units, an important distinction when a style's variants sell at different rates. The vendor says Nimbus RMS syncs inventory, stock, and sales with Shopify in real time, which is useful for retailers coordinating store and online activity.

The vendor says the service is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Its support options include screen-specific help, support tickets, a Nimbus Forum, and email support on the free plan. Android phones can run the mobile app installed through a phone browser, including offline sales. The combination of phone checkout and offline support is useful for mobile selling, though the listed platforms are Android and web rather than a broader set of desktop and mobile systems.

Pricing

Nimbus RMS uses a freemium model, with paid plans starting at $19/month and a 14-day trial. The trial costs 0.00 USD for 14 days of access and allows up to 3 stores, 50 products, 1 user per store, and 1 register per store, with no receipt limit and no credit card required. Trial data is held for 20 days after expiration; if the account is not upgraded within that period, it is deleted. That window makes timely export or an upgrade important for anyone evaluating the software with real operating data.

The Free Version costs 0.00 USD and is limited to 1 store, 50 products, 1 user, 1 register, and 100 sales receipts per month. Email support is included. The free tier excludes multi-store and double-entry accounting, so it is a reasonable starting point for a small, low-volume shop but not a substitute for the chain controls or accounting features a larger operation may need.

Single Store costs 19.00 USD per month, billed USD $19/month. It raises capacity to 10,000 SKUs and 3 users per register while retaining one store and one register. This is the more practical step up for a single location that has outgrown the 50-product ceiling, but the one-register limit remains relevant for shops running multiple checkout lanes.

Chain Stores costs 29.00 USD per month, billed USD $29/month. It supports multiple stores and 20,000 SKUs, with one register free per store and 3 users per register. It is the clear fit when central store management matters; retailers needing more than the included register capacity should weigh that limit before choosing it.

Platforms

Nimbus RMS runs on the web and Android. The vendor says the Android app can be installed from a phone browser and supports offline sales on the phone, extending checkout beyond a fixed web-based workstation.

Who it's for

Small retailers that need stock alerts, replenishment controls, reporting, and resilient checkout can start with the free version if one user, one register, and 100 monthly receipts are enough. Single-location shops with larger catalogs can move to Single Store, while multi-location retailers are better matched to Chain Stores. Businesses requiring more than 20,000 SKUs or the stated user and register allowances should assess whether the paid tiers provide enough room.

Pros and cons

Pros: Offline checkout syncs when internet returns, reducing the risk that a connection outage stops sales.
Pros: Multi-location stock visibility, transfers, and central controls support coordinated store operations.
Pros: The free plan and no-card trial offer low-commitment ways to start, with the trial supporting up to three stores.
Cons: The free tier caps a shop at 50 products, one user, one register, and 100 monthly receipts, and excludes multi-store and double-entry accounting.
Cons: Single Store remains limited to one register, while Chain Stores allows one free register per store; checkout capacity may be a constraint for busier locations.
Cons: Trial data is deleted if the account is not upgraded within 20 days after the trial ends.

Alternatives

Retail Management Software is a useful place to compare other retail tools. Consider Erply if a paid system with broad platform support and a published Growth Plan for three stores, unlimited users, and 100,000 queries per month better fits your scale; that plan is 1000.00 USD per month.

GoFrugal Retail is another paid option, with a free trial and Android, iOS, web, and Windows platforms. Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service is a paid alternative spanning Android, iOS, Linux, self-hosted, web, and Windows. SAP Retail is a paid alternative with broad platform support. SwilERP offers a 45-day free trial and a cloud plan at 1000.00 INR per month, billed ₹1,000 per user per month. For a jewellery shop seeking a free plan, Auromine has a free Jewellery POS — Pearl tier with one counter, 30 invoices per month, and 200 items. Cegid Retail is another paid option. RetailPOS is a paid alternative with pricing customized by business size, outlet count, and modules.

Verdict

Nimbus RMS is a strong match for small retailers that want offline checkout, useful inventory controls, and a path from one shop to multiple locations without an upfront commitment. Its low entry price and broad checkout options are appealing, but the free tier's tight caps and the paid plans' register limits make capacity the deciding question. Choose it if those limits fit your store; look elsewhere if your checkout volume or catalog needs more room.
