In their own words

CredsNow

CredsNow is an onsite event platform for check-in, badge printing, sessions, lead retrieval, digital badges, and event project management. Its online designer lets teams create branded badge templates, with unlimited designs available on a free account. Self-service kiosks can check in attendees and print badges through QR codes or name lookup. A cloud print agent connects printers for distributed, on-demand printing across stations. The Session module supports QR scanning, attendance tracking, real-time dashboards, credit tracking, and access control. Listed integrations include Cvent, Swoogo, Eventbrite, Stova, Jemex, M Tiley Group, and Zapier, along with webhooks and an open API. The free account allows unlimited events, data, and check-in screens, and lets teams test session scanning and lead retrieval. Paid options include event-based software and session-module charges, plus usage-based fees. CredsNow says it is hosted in the United States on Microsoft Azure and encrypts data in transit and at rest; SOC 2 Type 2 is in progress. The company also offers pre-printed badges, cards, and passes for shipment, as well as paid technical and onsite support.

Indico

Indico is a free, open-source tool for organizing events, archiving materials, and supporting collaboration. It provides workflows for seminars, meetings, workshops, and conferences, and can bring an institute’s events together. For conferences, organizers can handle registration and abstract submission, store papers and other materials, and provide participant badges. Events use hierarchical categories, protections for resources, and roles within events. The room-booking module supports delegated management, booking approvals, and audiovisual equipment management. Indico integrates with Zoom so participants can join video conferences with a single click; listed plugins also cover PayPal payments and Amazon S3 event-file storage. It can be customized through configuration and plugins, and its HTTP Export API exposes category contents, events, rooms, and bookings. Indico is installed as a self-hosted instance. The project began in 2002, and CERN adopted it for event management in 2004 and has financed its development since. The maker describes room booking as suited to companies, research institutes, and universities.
