In their own words
Current RMS
Current RMS is cloud software for managing equipment rentals in the AV, production, event and party rental industries. Its availability engine calculates how much stock is available now and in the future, while asset tools track bulk inventory or serialized items and create barcode and QR code labels. A rental-focused CRM organizes customer and colleague interactions, activities, tasks and email discussions. Teams can send branded proposals and rental documents for online approval, comments and digital signatures, and manage deposits and part invoices while the system calculates the remaining balance. Accounting integrations with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage Business Cloud support posting invoices and credit notes and recording payments. The product also lists integrations including TeamTrack, PATGuard Cloud, Arrivy and HubSpot Data Sync, and offers an open API for customer-built integrations. It runs on Android, iOS and the web. The First User plan is $79 a month; each additional user is $49 a month. A 30-day trial requires no card details.
Flex
Flex brings rental inventory, sales, production operations, warehouse workflows, crew scheduling, billing, and payments into one platform. A signed quote reserves equipment for its date range and can lead to a warehouse pick list, barcode or RFID scans, and a truck manifest. Flex can generate invoices automatically and accept credit card or ACH payments. It includes quote building, rental contracts, delivery scheduling, and return tracking, but not online booking. The integration list includes QuickBooks, PayEngine, DocuSign, HubSpot, Salesforce, Pro Subrental Marketplace, CrewDriver, Google Calendar, Zapier, and a REST API; its HubSpot CRM integration is in open beta. Flex runs in supported browsers on Windows, Mac, and Linux, with Google Chrome recommended, and the Flex5 app is available for Apple and Android devices. The Flex plan costs $510 a month and includes unlimited users. There is no free plan, but a 30-day trial is available. Flex says it is suited to businesses with 500 or more assets, multiple jobs, or multi-user and multi-location operations.
