In their own words
Datto Endpoint Backup for Windows
Datto Endpoint Backup for Windows backs up and restores Windows PCs, servers, virtual machines, and cloud instances directly to Datto Cloud, without an appliance. Policies let administrators choose data, schedule backups from once every hour to once every 24 hours, set retention periods of 90 days, 1 year, 3 years, or 7 years, and manage bandwidth. Recovery includes files and folders, file versions restored elsewhere or downloaded directly, and bare metal restores to the same or different hardware. A unified portal provides alerts and visibility into backup status, history, storage use, and policy settings for Windows and Mac endpoints. Backups are encrypted in transit and at rest, with optional customer-managed keys; listed protections also include forced MFA, KaseyaOne single sign-on, and immutable cloud storage. The product integrates with Autotask PSA, Datto RMM, Kaseya VSA, IT Glue, and Compliance Manager GRC. Supported systems include Windows 10 and 11, Windows Server 2012 R2 through 2025, and macOS, though Windows 10/11 Enterprise multi-session is incompatible. Pricing is on request, based on storage used, and there is no free plan.
Duplicati
Duplicati is backup software for Windows, macOS and Linux, covering computers and servers. It can back up desktops, laptops, local servers, NAS devices, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and S3 buckets. Destinations include S3, WebDAV, SFTP and local hardware; cloud data can also be copied to an on-prem SAN or private S3 cluster. Data is encrypted locally with AES-256 before transfer, and only changed blocks are sent. Retention settings can remove older backups or keep a chosen number. Administrators can distribute backup configurations to clients, delegate local management to regional IT staff and isolate clients in sub-organizations. One subscription supports unlimited clients and endpoints. The free plan provides an insights dashboard, monitoring for up to two machines and access to the last 200 backups. Pro adds alerts, AI analysis, remote management, retention, storage and priority support. Enterprise adds organization management, configuration assistance, SSO with MFA, agent deployment and credential management. Pro is $2/mo billed annually; Enterprise is $3/mo billed yearly and requires at least 10 machines.
