Overview

Freshmarketer is a marketing automation platform for sales and marketing teams coordinating campaigns and customer journeys across channels. It suits businesses that want automation, audience segmentation, and sales handoff in one place. Its broad channel coverage is a strength, but small included contact allowances and the trial-end suspension rule call for careful planning.

Key features

Freshmarketer supports email, SMS, WhatsApp, live chat, Apple Message for Business, Google Business Messages, LINE, Instagram direct messages, Facebook Messenger, and social campaigns. Automation covers email, transactional email, SMS, WhatsApp, chat campaigns, chatbots, and real-time customer journeys. That range makes it a stronger fit for teams coordinating outreach across several channels than for businesses that need only a basic email newsletter tool. Chatbot sessions have a 24-hour maximum duration, which may constrain longer-running conversations.

Lead capture forms and scoring, together with native CRM integrations, help connect marketing activity to sales follow-up. Segmentation spans marketing contacts, Shopify and WooCommerce audiences, anonymous visitors, and Facebook and Instagram audiences. AI capabilities include campaign assistance, scoring, segmentation, chatbots, and insights. Reporting includes e-commerce dashboards, email and SMS metrics, revenue attribution, A/B testing, heatmaps, and session replay, giving teams several ways to assess campaign performance and customer behavior.

Integrations include API access, Shopify, Segment, Zapier, WooCommerce, and more than 1,000 Freshworks Marketplace apps. Freshworks also offers dedicated onboarding to migrate contacts, campaigns, and historical data from an existing marketing automation or CRM platform. Security practices include 24-hour data-center surveillance and current application security patches; Freshworks' Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, PCI DSS v4.0.0, and other compliance materials.

Pricing

Freshmarketer has a free plan and a 21-day trial. The Free plan is free, billed annually, and is aimed at teams getting started. It includes 100 marketing contacts and 500 monthly email sends. Those caps make it useful for a small initial audience, but teams with larger lists or heavier email volume will need to plan for an upgrade.

The Enterprise plan starts at $15 per month, billed annually, and includes 500 marketing contacts, an AI-powered campaign assistant, transactional emails, Facebook and Instagram custom audiences, advanced segmentation, and advanced webhooks, plus everything in Free. The fivefold contact allowance over Free is still a modest ceiling for a growing database. Marketing contacts are available as an add-on from $100 per 5,000 contacts per month. Other listed add-ons include conversion-rate optimization from $219 per 10,000 MUV per month, a dedicated IP at $199 per account per month, Freddy AI Agent at $49 per 100 sessions, and Messaging Agent at $79 per agent per month.

The trial lasts 21 days; accounts are suspended if users do not select a plan after it expires, so teams should decide before the trial ends whether to continue. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and qualifying USD checks are accepted. Pricing and signup questions can be sent to crm-support@freshworks.com.

Platforms

Freshmarketer runs on the web and offers API access. It is therefore suited to browser-based campaign work and integrations, rather than a buyer specifically seeking a listed native mobile app.

Who it's for

Freshmarketer is best suited to sales and marketing teams that need multichannel campaigns, segmentation, lead tools, and reporting connected to customer journeys. Its native CRM integrations and migration onboarding are useful for organizations moving from another marketing automation or CRM platform. It is less compelling for a business that only needs email sends, or for a team whose contact list will quickly outgrow the included allowances.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad messaging and automation coverage lets teams coordinate more than email campaigns.
Pros: Lead capture, scoring, native CRM integrations, and revenue attribution connect campaign work with sales outcomes.
Pros: Free entry and migration onboarding lower the barrier to evaluating a move.
Cons: Free is capped at 100 contacts and 500 monthly sends; Enterprise starts at only 500 contacts.
Cons: The trial-end suspension rule makes an explicit plan decision important before the 21 days are up.
Cons: Add-on costs can matter for teams needing more contacts, conversion optimization, a dedicated IP, or agent sessions.

Alternatives

Consider GetResponse if a mobile-app option matters: it supports Android and iOS as well as web and API access, and its Starter plan includes unlimited monthly email sends and one custom automation workflow. Mautic is an alternative with a self-hosted option and a 14-day trial that does not require a credit card.

Mailchimp may suit a team wanting a compact free email plan: its Free plan allows 250 contacts, 500 emails per month, one audience, and one seat. Manago AI is another option for buyers considering a paid platform with a free trial.

ActiveCampaign is worth comparing for buyers seeking a paid platform with a free trial; its Starter plan is customized and includes one user. Klaviyo offers a free plan for up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends per month, plus $5 of mobile messages per month.

Twilio Segment may fit teams focused on visitor data and integrations: its free plan includes 1,000 visitors per month, 500,000 Reverse ETL records per month, and more than 700 integrations. SAS Customer Intelligence 360 is another paid option to compare.

Verdict

Choose Freshmarketer if your sales and marketing team needs coordinated multichannel automation, audience segmentation, and campaign reporting with native CRM connections. Its free tier and migration onboarding make it approachable, but the contact limits and mandatory plan choice at trial expiry are meaningful constraints. Look elsewhere if you need a larger included audience, a mobile app, or a simpler email-only tool.
