In their own words
DocuWare
DocuWare captures business information, automates document workflows, and keeps documents in centralized archives. It can capture material from scanners, email, Microsoft Teams, file imports, print streams, and other sources, with indexing and barcode recognition. Users can build workflows with drag-and-drop tools, automate recurring tasks and approvals, set deadlines, and follow progress in a dashboard. Search covers document content and indexed metadata, while versioning tracks document histories. DocuWare is offered as cloud SaaS, on-premises, or hybrid deployment. The maker says cloud and on-premises share a code base and feature parity; cloud subscriptions include complete functionality, with pricing based on users and storage. Integrations include 500 applications, with iPaaS connectors to more than 1,000 cloud applications and a REST-based platform service. Cloud documents use AES-256 encryption, traffic uses HTTPS with TLS, and data is triply mirrored, including a second copy elsewhere in the same region. Pricing is listed from $30/user/mo, and a free trial is available. Some on-premises capabilities may require additional licenses.
Foxit DMS
Foxit DMS is a centralized cloud repository for storing, organizing, searching, sharing, and managing business documents. Search and organization tools include OCR, custom metadata and tags, advanced search, folder hierarchies, and templates. Version history and check-in/check-out controls help manage edits and reduce overwrites. The service connects with Foxit PDF Editor and eSign for editing, signing, and storage workflows. Listed controls include encryption, role-based permissions, single sign-on, and multi-factor authentication; governance tools include audit logs, retention scheduling, and document reporting. Foxit says documents are stored in U.S. and Germany data centers. Storage descriptions differ: the DMS page says cloud storage is unlimited and pooled across an account, while the mobile help page says DMS offers 1 GB free and that a PDF Editor subscription provides more space. DMS is included with Foxit PDF Editor and eSign subscriptions, with availability varying by region. A 14-day PDF Editor+ trial includes DMS; paid pricing is listed from $129.99 per user per year.
