In their own words
Eventbrite
Eventbrite helps organizers create event pages, sell tickets, promote events, manage attendees, and review results. Promotion options include marketplace visibility, email campaigns, Facebook and Instagram ad tools, promo codes, smart audiences, and reporting; organizer tools also list AI event creation. The attendee app supports event discovery, registration, and ticket access on iPhone and Android. The Organizer app adds QR ticket scanning, check-in, and on-site ticket sales on iOS and Android. The app marketplace lists more than 100 apps, and documented integrations include Mailchimp and Zoom. The Zoom integration is limited to online, non-recurring events and does not support government Zoom accounts. Free event publishing costs nothing, with unlimited publishing and no ticket fees for free tickets. Eventbrite Premium costs $69 a month or $708 a year; availability varies by country. US fees for paid tickets are 3.7% plus $1.79 per ticket, with 2.9% per order for payment processing. Free events can be any size.
Indico
Indico is a free, open-source tool for organizing events, archiving materials, and supporting collaboration. It provides workflows for seminars, meetings, workshops, and conferences, and can bring an institute’s events together. For conferences, organizers can handle registration and abstract submission, store papers and other materials, and provide participant badges. Events use hierarchical categories, protections for resources, and roles within events. The room-booking module supports delegated management, booking approvals, and audiovisual equipment management. Indico integrates with Zoom so participants can join video conferences with a single click; listed plugins also cover PayPal payments and Amazon S3 event-file storage. It can be customized through configuration and plugins, and its HTTP Export API exposes category contents, events, rooms, and bookings. Indico is installed as a self-hosted instance. The project began in 2002, and CERN adopted it for event management in 2004 and has financed its development since. The maker describes room booking as suited to companies, research institutes, and universities.
