In their own words
Eventcloud
Eventcloud is an event registration and ticketing platform for organisers running events of any size. It combines event pages, ticket-specific registration forms, payments and on-site check-in. Organisers can manage attendee answers, resend confirmations and export registration data to CSV or Excel. Payments connect to the organiser’s own Stripe account; Eventcloud says ticket revenue goes to that account and it charges no per-ticket fees. On event day, a phone camera can scan QR tickets, while organisers can print badges and view live attendance and revenue metrics. Promotion tools include promo codes, affiliate links and waiting lists. The web platform can also be self-hosted, and its integration information describes a REST API and an embeddable registration widget. Team costs $125 a month when billed monthly, or $1,250 a year when billed annually. Users can build and test for free without a time limit, but an active Team subscription is required to publish events and sell tickets. Enterprise offers white-label options, single sign-on and a dedicated account manager.
Indico
Indico is a free, open-source tool for organizing events, archiving materials, and supporting collaboration. It provides workflows for seminars, meetings, workshops, and conferences, and can bring an institute’s events together. For conferences, organizers can handle registration and abstract submission, store papers and other materials, and provide participant badges. Events use hierarchical categories, protections for resources, and roles within events. The room-booking module supports delegated management, booking approvals, and audiovisual equipment management. Indico integrates with Zoom so participants can join video conferences with a single click; listed plugins also cover PayPal payments and Amazon S3 event-file storage. It can be customized through configuration and plugins, and its HTTP Export API exposes category contents, events, rooms, and bookings. Indico is installed as a self-hosted instance. The project began in 2002, and CERN adopted it for event management in 2004 and has financed its development since. The maker describes room booking as suited to companies, research institutes, and universities.
