In their own words

Eventleaf

Eventleaf is an event management platform for registration, on-site entry, attendee engagement, exhibitions, and proposal workflows. Organizers can create event websites and forms, handle group registrations, waitlists, tiered tickets, and payment collection, and collect abstracts or proposals for review and scheduling. For check-in, staff can scan invitation barcodes, print custom badges, use self-check-in kiosks, and check attendees into sessions or venues. Engagement tools include polls, Q&A, surveys, messaging, networking, and gamification. Exhibition functions cover booth sales and selection on an interactive floor map, plus lead capture by scanning badges or invitation barcodes. Eventleaf is listed for Android, iOS, web, and Windows. It has a free plan and free trial. Basic costs $500 a year and Professional costs $2,000 a year; both list unlimited events and users, with different minimum attendee counts. The maker introduced desktop software in 2012 and launched a cloud-based version in 2015.

Indico

Indico is a free, open-source tool for organizing events, archiving materials, and supporting collaboration. It provides workflows for seminars, meetings, workshops, and conferences, and can bring an institute’s events together. For conferences, organizers can handle registration and abstract submission, store papers and other materials, and provide participant badges. Events use hierarchical categories, protections for resources, and roles within events. The room-booking module supports delegated management, booking approvals, and audiovisual equipment management. Indico integrates with Zoom so participants can join video conferences with a single click; listed plugins also cover PayPal payments and Amazon S3 event-file storage. It can be customized through configuration and plugins, and its HTTP Export API exposes category contents, events, rooms, and bookings. Indico is installed as a self-hosted instance. The project began in 2002, and CERN adopted it for event management in 2004 and has financed its development since. The maker describes room booking as suited to companies, research institutes, and universities.
