In their own words
FModel
FModel is free, open-source Windows software for exploring and extracting content from games made with Unreal Engine. It can browse game archives, including encrypted ones, and compare two archive states to identify new or modified packages; encrypted archives require an AES key. It parses more than 30 asset types, displays their properties and offers image, audio and 3D viewing for supported content. Package properties can be shown in formats including JSON, INI, XML and TXT, and models can be saved as PSK files. An Export Session window supports batching raw data, model, world, texture and animation exports. The August 2026 release added USD export for meshes, animations, materials and worlds, plus WebP export and texture quality settings. Whole-level export is in USDA format, and sockets or attachments may not always be placed correctly. FModel is distributed as a portable x64 executable in a ZIP archive. It requires .NET 10.0 or later, and some games may require up to 2 GB of free RAM.
NetRadiant-Custom
NetRadiant-Custom is a free, open-source level editor for games based on id Tech, available on Windows, macOS and Linux. Its primary focus is Quake, Quake 3 and Quake Live, while releases include configurations for additional games. Users can create and manipulate brushes and entities in the 3D view, with geometry tools for vertex editing, face extrusion, patch thickening and CSG shell modification. Texture tools support UV alignment, drag painting, copying textures between brush faces and patches, and locking textures during vertex or edge edits. Keyboard shortcuts, interface themes and fonts are customizable. Viewports offer anisotropic texture filtering and optional MSAA. When region mode is enabled, working compilations build only the map section in that region. Bundled Q3Map2 tools include automatic map packaging and BSP import and export as JSON; its Assimp library supports more than 40 model formats. Supported formats include .map, .bsp, .pk3, .dpk, .dpkdir, Valve 220, brush primitives, axial projection, .def, .ent and .fgd. Ready-to-use packages are available in the project's Releases section.
