Overview

Formbricks supports link-based and in-product surveys, as well as website, email, and in-app collection. It handles both NPS survey types and broader survey use cases, making it a candidate for teams that want feedback collection and follow-up workflows in one platform. Its listed platforms are Android, iOS, web, API, and self-hosted.

Teams can use Formbricks Cloud or deploy it themselves. The latter offers one-click setup, Docker, and Kubernetes options, but deployment convenience does not remove the ongoing work: the documented v6 baseline runs eight long-lived services, with a single-server evaluation setup of 2 vCPU, 4 GB memory, and 20 GB SSD.

Key features

Survey design and targeting

Hobby includes all question types, conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, file uploads, and single-use links, for both link-based and in-product surveys. That is a substantial toolkit for tailoring a survey and managing how it is shared. The cloud Hobby cap of 250 responses per month, however, makes it a small-scale starting point rather than a durable option for higher-volume programs.

Segmentation and follow-up

Pro adds respondent identification, contact and segment management, and attribute-based segmentation. These capabilities matter when a team needs to organize feedback by respondent attributes rather than treat every response as interchangeable. Pro also adds email follow-ups, custom webhooks, integrations, iOS and Android SDKs, and AI translations, giving teams more ways to connect responses to subsequent workflows.

Third-party integrations include Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Slack, n8n, Zapier, and ActivePieces. Formbricks says data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256, and lists GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001 compliance. It also says it conducts annual independent penetration tests and daily encrypted backups for Formbricks Cloud.

Pricing

The cloud plans are freemium, with a 14-day trial. Hobby has no listed price and includes one workspace and 250 responses per month. It can suit a small team establishing a feedback program, but the response ceiling is restrictive once collection grows.

Pro costs 89.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes three workspaces, 2,000 responses per month, and unlimited seats. It is the clearest fit for teams that need segmentation and follow-up capabilities without limiting participation by seat count. Scale costs 390.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises capacity to five workspaces and 5,000 responses per month. That is aimed at larger programs with higher response volume, though the step up in monthly price makes the additional capacity worth matching carefully to expected use.

Self-Hosting Free costs 0.00 USD per free and requires DIY setup and maintenance. It offers community support, moderate customization and control, and most advanced features. Self-Hosting EE License has custom pricing, fixed per month, and also requires DIY setup and maintenance; it adds prioritized support and updates, all advanced features, and full customization and control. Free self-hosting avoids a license charge, but not the infrastructure and maintenance work. EE is more suitable when advanced capabilities and prioritized support justify a custom license.

Platforms

Formbricks supports Android, iOS, web, API, and self-hosted deployments. The SDKs for iOS and Android are among Pro's listed features, so teams should distinguish platform availability from what is included at each cloud tier. Self-hosters can choose one-click setup, Docker, or Kubernetes, with the documented service and server requirements in mind.

Who it's for

Formbricks suits organizations that want to understand customers through feedback, from financial services and healthcare to e-commerce, nonprofits, government, market research, and retail. It is particularly compelling when feedback needs to be segmented or routed into follow-up workflows, or when self-hosting is a requirement. Teams that only need occasional, low-volume surveys may find the Pro price and self-hosting overhead hard to justify.

Pros and cons

Pros: The Hobby feature set includes conditional logic, hidden fields, partial responses, file uploads, and single-use links, allowing more tailored collection than a bare questionnaire.
Pros: Pro combines respondent segmentation with email follow-ups, webhooks, integrations, and mobile SDKs, supporting feedback programs that need to act on responses.
Pros: Cloud and self-hosted options, with Docker and Kubernetes deployment paths, give organizations a meaningful choice of operating model.
Cons: Hobby is capped at 250 responses per month, while Pro and Scale are capped at 2,000 and 5,000 respectively; teams with larger volumes may outgrow the listed tiers.
Cons: Self-hosting still means maintaining a baseline of eight long-running services, and free self-hosted users receive community support.
Cons: Hobby and the EE license have custom or unlisted pricing, while the listed Pro and Scale prices are billed monthly; budgeting is less straightforward across deployment choices.

Alternatives

Fynzo Survey is worth considering for a reader prioritizing a free plan with unlimited surveys, questions, and responses, plus 1,000+ templates; its listed platforms are Android, iOS, and web.

Refiner is an option for teams seeking a freemium survey tool across Android, API, iOS, and web, though its free plan is limited to 25 survey responses per month.

Customer Thermometer is another alternative; its listed plans include a $9.00 USD per month option that retains and displays account data but includes zero responses.

Mapster may suit a web-only use case seeking low-cost entry: its free plan allows 50 responses per month with unlimited surveys and all features, while Starter is $19.00 USD per month for 1,000 responses.

SatisMeter offers a free tier with 25 responses per month and supports Android, API, iOS, and web, making it a lower-volume alternative for teams that do not need Formbricks' listed self-hosting option.

nps.today is a paid alternative with a free trial; its listed trial lasts one month and allows 50 surveys per month.

Survicate offers a free plan with 25 responses per month and three teammates, for readers whose needs fit a smaller response allowance.

Wootric is another alternative for readers comparing customer-feedback software.

Verdict

Choose Formbricks if your feedback program needs configurable surveys, segmentation, and follow-up options, or if self-hosting is important enough to justify ongoing maintenance. Look elsewhere if your response volume will quickly exceed the cloud caps, or if you need a low-overhead survey tool without the cost of Pro or the work of running the platform yourself.
