In their own words
Hyvor Blogs
Hyvor Blogs is an open-source platform for creating and managing blogs, with hosted and self-hosted options. Blogs can use a custom domain, a sub-directory, or a headless frontend; custom domains receive free TLS certificates. Users can select a theme or build one with HTML and CSS. Built-in tools include scheduling, SEO metadata, social cards, generated sitemaps and robots.txt, and link analysis. Teams can edit posts in real time with live cursors and suggestion mode, and content can be translated, including RTL layouts. APIs and webhooks support developer workflows. Every plan includes Hyvor Talk for comments and Hyvor Post for newsletters, with monthly allowances varying by plan. The built-in AI agent can generate content, translate posts, and suggest improvements. Hyvor says users own and can export their content in one click, and that blogs have no ads or third-party trackers. Paid Personal pricing is €5 a month, billed annually at €50/year; a 14-day trial includes all features. The free Open-Source plan is self-hosted under AGPLv3; self-hosting requires Docker, PostgreSQL, and an OIDC provider.
Tumblr
Tumblr is a blogging and community service for publishing original posts, sharing interests, and connecting through reblogging. Posts can use tags and content labels; reblogs place a post on another blog while retaining attribution to the original poster and earlier contributors. Members can post directly to communities, and blogs can enable one-off questions with anonymous asks as an option. Blog tools include custom domains, custom-code theme customization, scheduling, and analytics. Audio posts can search or embed music from Spotify, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp, as well as podcast episodes from Pocket Casts. Tumblr runs on the web, iOS, and Android. It offers authenticator-app two-factor authentication with backup codes, plus controls to exclude a blog from Tumblr search and recommendations and discourage external search indexing. The free plan provides basic access. Tumblr Premium costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year and adds ad-free browsing, monthly Blaze and TumblrMart perks, and higher posting, liking, upload, and queue limits. Blog exports are ZIP files, limited to four per blog each month and retained for three days; importing content from other platforms or Tumblr blogs is not supported.
