Overview

Keela is a web-based donor platform for nonprofits that want fundraising, supporter communications, and reporting connected to a shared contact database. It is strongest for organizations managing ongoing donor relationships across those functions; the contact-based price and paid extras make budget fit a central part of the decision.

Key features

Donor profiles, deduplication, relationship tracking, donor scores, and pipeline management cover both record keeping and prospect prioritization. But pipelines are an extra-cost feature, so teams that need stage-based prospect tracking should include that charge in their comparison.

Fundraising combines custom donation forms, campaign tracking, recurring-giving prompts, smart donor asks, and automatic gift acknowledgements. Forms, donations, and emails are unlimited across plans, which suits organizations running frequent campaigns without a stated volume ceiling. Keela says PayPal and Stripe process donations at a nonprofit rate of 2.2% plus 30 cents, with no additional Keela fee.

Email tools include customizable building, tags, segments, and automated workflows. Texting and wealth screening cost extra, which may make Keela less attractive to organizations that depend on either capability. Reporting is a strength: customizable dashboards, real-time reporting, visual summaries, presentation-ready reports, and automatically calculated KPIs serve teams that need to track fundraising performance.

Listed integrations include Raisely, Aplos, Stripe, QuickBooks Online, PayPal, Eventbrite, Mailchimp, SendGrid, Xero, Zapier, BitPay, and DonorSearch. Every plan includes unlimited email support, online training, a knowledge base, training videos, and Keela U. Premium Care adds live chat and scheduled phone support, but starts at $200 per month.

Keela says data is stored on Microsoft Azure servers in the United States, Canada, or Australia depending on the nonprofit's location. It also says HTTPS encrypts data sent to its servers and that backups run multiple times a day.

Pricing

Keela's paid pricing scales with contact count. Annual billing is cheaper than monthly at the published tiers: up to 1,000 contacts costs 164.00 USD per month billed annually, or 190.00 USD per month billed monthly. The annual price for 1,001–2,500 contacts is 243.00 USD per month, compared with 259.00 USD per month billed monthly; for 2,501–5,000 contacts, it is 316.00 USD per month annually versus 357.00 USD per month monthly. Keela says annual payment saves up to 23%.

Published annual prices continue at 379.00 USD per month for 5,001–7,500 contacts and 438.00 USD per month for 7,501–10,000+ contacts. Organizations with more than 10,000 contacts are directed to request custom pricing. The larger tiers suit bigger databases, but make contact growth a recurring budget consideration. Premium Care starts at $200 per month; pipelines, texting, and wealth screening are also additional-cost features.

Although Keela describes its pricing model as freemium, it has no free plan. Unlimited forms, emails, donations, and support are included across plans, so the main stated plan limit is contact count rather than campaign volume. The published tiers are most useful to compare against an organization's current database size and expected growth.

Platforms

Keela runs on the web, making it a fit for teams whose work centers on browser access rather than a dedicated mobile app.

Who it's for

Keela serves nonprofits and charities, including organizations working in civil rights, social justice, mental health, and childhood hunger. It is a particularly strong fit for teams seeking donor CRM, campaigns, email, and reporting in one system. Organizations with small budgets, more than 10,000 contacts, or a need for included texting or pipelines should weigh the custom pricing or add-on costs carefully.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited forms, emails, and donations support frequent fundraising without stated volume caps.
Pros: Donor management, fundraising, email automation, and advanced reporting are brought together around contact records.
Pros: Every plan includes unlimited email support and a range of training resources.
Cons: There is no free plan despite the freemium pricing classification.
Cons: Contact-based pricing rises with database size, and organizations above 10,000 contacts need custom pricing.
Cons: Pipelines, texting, wealth screening, and enhanced support add cost; Premium Care alone starts at $200 per month.

Alternatives

For membership organizations needing a free starting point, memberplanet offers a free Basic plan with unlimited members and admins; its Essentials plan is $50.00 USD per month and includes a 2% platform fee. Trail Blazer is worth considering for small databases: its Non-Profit Manager plan starts at $50.00 USD per month for fewer than 500 contacts, includes unlimited mass email, and has setup fees of $295 to $495.

Funraise may suit organizations raising under $1 million annually that want a free plan; its premium plans require a sales conversation. Raklet is another free-plan option, with a free tier capped at 100 contacts, one admin seat, and 1,250 free emails per month. Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud may be preferable to eligible nonprofits seeking a broader platform with 10 free licenses through the Power of Us Program.

infoodle offers a Core CRM plan at $75.00 USD per month for 1–100 active contacts, including contact management, donations, and reporting, which may suit organizations with a very small database. WildApricot is a membership-focused option with a 100-contact plan at $66.00 USD per month. Eudonet CRM offers a CRM solution tailored to sector needs.

Verdict

Keela is a strong choice for nonprofits that want donor management, fundraising, email communications, and reporting working together, especially when unlimited campaign volume matters more than a free entry tier. Choose it if its contact-based price fits your database and budget; look elsewhere if you need a free plan or expect to rely on paid extras such as texting and pipelines.
