Overview

NotaryCentral combines remote online notarization with journal, booking, payment, and accounting workflows for independent notaries and teams. It is a strong fit for notaries who want offline journal entry and business reporting alongside client appointments, but its free RON allowance is finite and continuing notarizations may add per-session credit costs.

Key features

The e-Journal supports searchable entries with thumbprints, signatures, and ID numbers, plus PDF and full-data exports. A tamper-evident hash is created when an entry is saved, so a later edit makes the hash fail to match. That is useful for spotting changes to records, while offline entry creation—even when signed out—helps keep work moving without connectivity. Entries sync after connection returns, so offline use still calls for a later sync.

Accounting reports cover year-end profit and loss, mileage, expenses, and 1099/payment records, with CSV and PDF downloads. That breadth can suit a notary who wants routine business reporting close to the work itself. Booking links let clients choose availability, select add-ons and fees, submit intake details, upload documents, and optionally pay upfront. Stripe and Square can be configured for booking payments; Square is also an optional card-payment integration in accounting. Google Calendar and Google Maps may be linked.

RON includes audio-video sessions, electronic notarization, identity verification, and notarized record storage. The stronger verification-and-biometrics credit option costs more than the option without ID verification, so notaries should match the verification level to the session they offer.

NotaryCentral says transmissions use SSL/TLS and sensitive account information is encrypted and access-controlled in storage. It also says it does not sell customer data, customer lists, or notarization records. Its Extract from ID feature temporarily processes extracted text without storing the original ID image on its servers. Compliance guidance includes cited AI answers based on state notary handbooks and reminders for notaries who still need a paper journal.

Pricing

Business Suite Free and e-Journal Free both are free, require no credit card, include email support, and cover the first 15 RON signings. These are sensible starting points for a new or low-volume notary, but the shared signing cap means neither is a lasting no-cost option for regular RON work.

RON credits without ID verification cost 1.50 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at one credit per notarization. Credits with ID verification and biometrics cost 3.00 USD per once and use two credits per notarization. Per-session pricing gives occasional users a way to pay in line with activity, but transaction costs accumulate with volume.

e-Journal Plus (Yearly) is shown as 1.66 USD per year, billed annually and shown as $1.66/month; it includes unlimited entries, mobile app access, and email support. It suits notaries who mainly need a continuing journal rather than the wider business suite. Business Tools (Yearly) is shown as 10.00 USD per year, billed annually and shown as $10.00/month, with unlimited appointments and priority support. It is a better fit for appointment-heavy work, though those inclusions do not make RON credits disappear. The broader paid offering starts at $10/user/mo (annual).

Platforms

NotaryCentral supports Android, iOS, web, an API, and an extension. Mobile support includes an app and mobile web, which pairs with the journal's offline entry workflow for notaries working away from a desk.

Who it's for

Independent notaries and teams can use NotaryCentral to bring appointment intake, notarization, records, and business reporting into one product. It is particularly appealing to practitioners who value offline journaling and exports. A notary looking only for occasional notarizations, or unwilling to manage separate credit charges, may prefer a simpler per-transaction option.

Pros and cons

Pros: Offline entry creation, searchable records, exports, and tamper-evident hashes support field work and recordkeeping.
Pros: Booking, payment configuration, and year-end business reports address work beyond the notarization itself.
Pros: Two free tiers allow up to 15 RON signings without a card requirement, useful for trying a limited workflow.
Cons: The free RON allowance is capped, and ongoing RON use can involve per-notarization credits.
Cons: The higher verification-and-biometrics option costs 3.00 USD per once and consumes two credits per notarization, making session costs more consequential for frequent use.

Alternatives

Secured Signing is worth considering for readers who want a free allowance stated in documents per month; its Free Account includes three documents monthly, while NotaryCentral's free tiers are framed around 15 RON signings.

BlueNotary may suit a notary prioritizing an unlimited general-notary-work free tier, electronic journal, and session recordings stored for 10 years rather than NotaryCentral's broader booking and accounting mix.

Notaron is another freemium option for readers who prefer its Notary Free plan's general notary work, BYOC, BYORO, and free digital seal.

OneNotary offers a pay-as-you-go online notarization option starting at $25 and mobile notarizations starting at $80, with seven days of document storage; choose it if those transaction terms better match your occasional use.

Proof Notarize may be a better fit for a growing team seeking API access, custom branding, and advanced transaction forms and signing rules, though its Pro+ plan is $199.00 USD per month plus transaction fees.

Stavvy uses custom pricing with service fees billed under its order forms and statements of work, so it is an option for buyers who want a tailored commercial arrangement.

Epic River is another paid option for readers to compare.

NotaryPro charges $23.95 USD per notarial act for an individual act with provider signature and seal and identity verification included; it may suit users who prefer an act-based price over NotaryCentral's RON credits.

Verdict

NotaryCentral is a compelling choice for independent notaries and teams who want a journal, booking workflow, and business reporting alongside RON, especially when offline entries matter. Its main advantage is that breadth; its main caution is the finite free allowance followed by per-notarization credit costs. Choose it when those connected workflows justify the ongoing structure, and look elsewhere if you want a simpler, more predictable transaction price.
