In their own words
OnTheClock
OnTheClock provides small businesses with employee time tracking, scheduling, PTO management, and payroll software. Employees can clock in and out through desktop, mobile app, web, kiosk, or browser. Location controls include GPS tracking, geofencing, breadcrumb trails, employee location maps, and device, IP, and Wi-Fi restrictions. Managers can build drag-and-drop schedules, share updates, and track attendance across locations and departments. PTO tools cover requests, accrual rules, holidays, carryover, and a shared calendar. Reports include employee time, gross payroll, labor costs, job and project costing, and a Who's In dashboard. The time-tracking plan is $4 a month per employee plus a 5 USD monthly base fee, after a free 30-day trial; there is no free plan. Payroll is an add-on at $6 a month per employee plus a 40 USD monthly base fee, with a one-time 250 USD migration and onboarding fee, and requires the time clock. Payroll service excludes some workers, businesses, and industries, including employees outside the United States and specified sectors.
Punchly
Punchly is a time-recording service for in-person businesses. Staff clock in or out with a four-digit PIN or QR badge on a browser-based device. Each workplace receives a private kiosk link that opens on a tablet or phone without an app. A live dashboard shows who is working, their location, and time on shift. Worked-hours reports provide timezone-correct totals by employee and location for a day, week, month, or custom range. Multiple workplaces can have separate kiosks and teams. Punches from unexpected networks are flagged to help identify off-site or buddy clock-ins. Optional clock-in photos are visible only to the owning company. Punchly says it uses encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls that limit company data to its owner. It is free during early access, although paid plans and billing terms may be introduced with notice. The service is early access, so features may change and interruptions may occur; its terms advise independent backups of time or payroll records.
