Overview

PATLive combines human call answering, website chat and outbound calling for businesses that need help handling customer interactions beyond their own staffed hours. It suits teams that want live coverage and receptionist tasks without building an in-house front desk. The range of services is useful, but separate packages, non-rolling quotas and usage charges make it important to match the plan to actual volume.

Live answering and web chat run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays, and use people rather than AI or bots. Plans are paid, with a 14-day trial and no free plan. For a broader comparison, see our Virtual Receptionist Services list.

Key features

Every plan includes call screening and transfers, message taking, lead collection, appointment scheduling, emergency dispatch and bilingual support. These basics make PATLive more than an overflow message service: it can capture routine inquiries and route calls or requests that need follow-up. Bilingual answering is useful for businesses serving callers in more than one language, though the service is not a substitute for a staffed team handling complex customer work.

The web and mobile apps support call and message management, business calling and texting, call routing and team users. A reporting dashboard adds interaction charts, recordings, filters and data export, giving teams ways to review activity and retrieve records. Native integrations include Calendly, Google Calendar, MindBody, AgileCRM, BigCommerce and Freshsales; AppFolio is available through Zapier.

Customers can contact Customer Care by phone, email or chat to update call-handling instructions. Changes typically take 24 business hours, while urgent changes may be expedited. That process is workable for planned updates, but businesses that change routing frequently should account for the usual turnaround.

Outbound calls are restricted to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, and may go only to people who opted in or already have a business relationship with the customer. Those rules make the outbound service unsuitable for unrestricted prospecting or after-hours campaigns. Monthly package minutes do not roll over, and overages are billed at the rate for the selected plan, so unused allowance cannot be carried into a busier month.

PATLive says HIPAA use requires a separately signed Business Associate Agreement and cautions that some configured communication channels may not meet HIPAA secure-transmission standards. Healthcare organizations should confirm their intended channels and setup before relying on the service for protected communications.

Pricing

The listed starting price is $49/mo, but the service is divided into separate call-answering, web-chat and outbound-call packages. All prices below are billed monthly.

Live Web Chats — Pay as you go: 19.00 USD per month, with no included chats and $9.95 per additional chat. This keeps the monthly commitment low for occasional chat use, but every chat incurs a substantial per-chat charge.
Outbound Calls — Pay as you go: 19.00 USD per month, with no included outreaches and $8.95 per additional outreach. It suits very limited calling; regular outreach quickly adds cost.
Live Call Answering — Pay as you go: 49.00 USD per month, with no included minutes and $2.99 per additional minute. This is the lowest call-answering entry point, but it offers no bundled usage.
Live Call Answering — 50 minutes: 99.00 USD per month for 50 minutes (about 20 calls), then $2.29 per additional minute. This fits modest call volume, provided usage stays near the allowance.
Live Web Chats — 25 chats: 149.00 USD per month for 25 chats, then $8.95 per additional chat. It provides a defined monthly allowance, but the overage rate makes spikes costly.
Live Call Answering — 100 minutes: 189.00 USD per month for 100 minutes (about 40 calls), then $2.09 per additional minute. This is the more suitable call plan for a steady, moderate queue.
Outbound Calls — 25 outreaches: 199.00 USD per month for 25 outreaches, then $8.49 per additional outreach. Choose it only when the included outreach volume matches a compliant weekday calling program.
Live Web Chats — 50 chats: 279.00 USD per month for 50 chats, then $8.49 per additional chat. It doubles the chat allowance over the 25-chat plan, but raises the fixed monthly commitment.
Outbound Calls — 50 outreaches: 309.00 USD per month for 50 outreaches, then $8.29 per additional outreach. The larger quota lowers the listed per-outreach overage, but it remains a costly option for volume beyond the allowance.
Live Call Answering — 200 minutes: 349.00 USD per month for 200 minutes (about 80 calls), then $1.99 per additional minute. This gives higher-volume callers the largest listed allowance and lowest call-minute overage.

The pay-as-you-go plans are cheaper in fixed monthly cost but include no usage, while larger packages exchange higher monthly fees for included volume and lower overage rates. There is no free plan; the trial lasts 14 days. Minutes do not roll over, and the overage terms make accurate volume estimates important. Teams should also check how their user needs fit the included app support for team users.

Platforms

PATLive supports Android, iOS and web, covering mobile use as well as browser access.

Who it's for

PATLive lists customers in legal, medical and wellness, home services, real estate, financial services, ecommerce, nonprofits, and IT and SaaS. It is a strong fit for businesses that need reliable live coverage, appointment scheduling, call qualification or emergency dispatch, and can predict monthly volume well enough to choose a package. It is less suitable for organizations that need unrestricted outbound calling, want usage to roll over, or need assurance that every communication channel meets HIPAA secure-transmission standards.

Pros and cons

Pros: Human answering and chat around the clock can cover weekends and holidays without requiring a business to staff its own reception desk.
Pros: Screening, transfers, message taking, lead collection, scheduling, emergency dispatch and bilingual support are included across plans, giving small teams a broad set of call-handling functions.
Pros: Apps, reporting tools and integrations provide ways to manage interactions, review recordings and connect common business systems.
Cons: Pay-as-you-go call answering, chat and outbound plans include no usage, so the low monthly entry prices can rise quickly with activity.
Cons: Minutes expire monthly and overages are charged, which penalizes uneven call volume.
Cons: Outbound calling is limited to weekday business hours and opted-in or existing business contacts, ruling out many campaign needs.
Cons: HIPAA use requires a separate agreement, and some communication channels may not meet secure-transmission standards.

Alternatives

YouSquared is worth considering when a free plan matters more than round-the-clock human reception: its Solo Basic plan is free and includes 20 calls per month, one call at a time, note-taking and dictation, and call screening and transfer to you.
Reception by ElevenAgents is an alternative for readers seeking a free web-based option, with 30 minutes by phone per month on its free plan.
Go Answer is another paid answering service to compare if its Virtual Receptionist 100 plan—175.00 USD per month for 100 minutes with $1.75/min overage—or Virtual Receptionist 200 plan fits your volume better.
Posh offers paid receptionist plans, including Chïc at 65.00 USD per month with no included minutes and $2.30 per minute, and Vogue at 130.00 USD per month with 50 receptionist minutes.
Specialty Answering Service is an alternative with an Economy plan at 44.00 USD per month plus $1.54 per minute, billed by the second, or a 100 Minute plan at 159.00 USD per month.
Abby is another paid option; its STARTER plan is 165.00 USD per month for 50 Abby Minutes and offers double minutes with AI.
LEX Reception is an alternative for readers willing to contact the service for rates, which are based on minutes and include per-minute overage charges.
VeraDial is an alternative to compare if a lower monthly price and specified phone and SMS allowances are a priority.

Verdict

Choose PATLive if your business needs people to answer calls and chats at any hour, with receptionist functions and app-based management in one service. Its main advantage is the breadth of live coverage and call handling; its main drawbacks are non-rolling allowances, expensive usage beyond quotas and narrow outbound-call rules. Businesses with uncertain volume, strict channel-security requirements or campaigns outside the permitted calling window should look elsewhere.
