ProProfs Knowledge Base
ProProfs Knowledge Base creates public or private knowledge bases, manuals, documentation, and help centers. Its editor supports images, video, revision history, file management, version control, and single sourcing; Word documents, PDFs, and PowerPoints can be imported. AI features cover writing, search, translation, SEO optimization, step-by-step guide creation, article suggestions, and reporting. Authors can customize themes, fonts, CSS and HTML, use custom domains, and create multiple help sites or brands. Access controls include private sites, password protection, folder restrictions, conditional content, and IP restrictions; authentication options include SSO, SAML, and JWT. Reports cover article performance, search trends, failed searches, and author activity. It is accessible on laptops, tablets, and phones, and the mobile experience works without installing an app. The free plan supports one author and up to 25 pages. The pricing note lists paid plans from $0.99/user/mo (annual); the Essentials plan is also listed at $49 per author per month with annual billing and a 50-user minimum. TWiki
TWiki is a free, open-source enterprise wiki and collaboration platform for intranets, extranets, and web applications. Its structured content, forms, variables, and plugins let teams build wiki applications and workflows. Users edit pages in a browser, with automatic links, formatting rules, and full-text search that supports regular expressions. TWiki records revisions to pages and attachments, allowing retrieval of earlier versions and comparison of changes. Administrators can set detailed read and write restrictions for users and groups. Plugins extend the software without changing its core, and developers can create them in Perl using the plugin API. The LdapContrib package can connect LDAP authentication, user mapping, and authorization, including LDAP groups in access lists. TWiki is installed on a web server; its production guide covers Apache on Linux and points to guidance for other environments. Requirements include Perl 5, shell commands, and RCS, with possible additional needs for plugins. Released under the GNU General Public License, it runs across Linux, macOS, Windows, and web environments. Support is not included; documentation, a user forum, an IRC channel, and consultants are listed.
