In their own words
Smile API
Smile API provides real-time, user-authorized access to verified identity, employment, and financial data through an API. It consolidates information from government, HR and payroll systems, gig economy platforms, and documents users submit. Smile Wink links payroll, government, or HR accounts to retrieve employment and income data. Smile Snap extracts and validates information from identity documents, income statements, photographed IDs, PDFs, and scanned records. Smile Signals combines telecom, behavioral, and email signals for screening, while Smile Flip supports identity checks, face matching, document capture, form autofill, and configurable onboarding workflows. The API uses REST, JSON, and HTTPS, with an OpenAPI specification and Postman collection in its developer resources. New accounts can test in a sandbox using mock data; production access requires approval and is billable. Users can revoke data access, and Smile says the information is deleted through its Revoke API. The company says it complies with the Philippines Data Privacy Act of 2012 and supports data portability rights under Section 18. A free sandbox is listed, while production pricing is available on request.
Truework
Truework is a paid income and employment verification service for mortgage lenders. It draws on payroll, tax, bank, and employer data, then completes checks through Instant Network, Credentials, and Smart Outreach methods. Routing selects a method expected to finish quickly according to the customer’s plan and configuration. Truework says it can verify more than 97% of U.S. workers and describes its reports as unified and GSE-ready. Teams can work in the web app without another integration, connect through a REST API, or use listed LOS connections such as Encompass and Empower and POS integrations such as Blend and nCino. Requests require evidence of consumer consent and are handled under the FCRA. Stated protections include encryption at rest and in transit, TLS 1.2 or greater, and tokenization. Plans list $19.95, paid once for VOE reverification, $59.95, paid once for Standard VOE, and $64.95, paid once for Standard VOI.
