In their own words
VolunteerBadge
VolunteerBadge combines volunteer management with background screening governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), for nonprofits, churches, and other volunteer organizations. Its free management tools cover volunteer-hour tracking, compliance rosters, grant-ready PDF and CSV reports, and automated re-screening alerts. A $5 check includes national criminal and sex-offender searches, federal watchlists, biometric identity verification, address history, and human review of high-confidence records. Checks require a standalone FCRA disclosure and signed authorization; the platform also provides an adverse-action workflow with notices and a waiting period. Listed connectors include Planning Center, Bloomerang, Little Green Light, Breeze ChMS, Better Impact, Rosterfy, Assemble, CERVIS, and Zapier. A documented REST API and webhooks are included without a monthly API fee. The service is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Listed safeguards include two-factor authentication, role-based access, TLS in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, and audit logging. VolunteerBadge says it does not sell volunteer or organization data. Its $5 database check is not a substitute for a fingerprint check when one is required by a state, licensor, or insurer.
VolunteerReady
VolunteerReady gives nonprofits and other organizations tools to recruit, screen, schedule, and manage volunteers. Volunteers can find opportunities and carry verified records between organizations using the platform. Organizations can build screening questionnaires with automatic pass-or-fail rules and review results in an application queue. Background checks use Checkr and Sterling and include an FCRA adverse-action workflow. Credentials such as training, orientation, ID verification, and reference checks can travel with volunteers across organizations. For scheduling, organizations can set up shifts, define capacity, accept sign-ups, and track attendance. Reporting covers hours, headcount, and credential status; corporate ESG summaries can be exported as CSV or PDF. The service is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its free plan is free and has no volunteer, opportunity, or seat cap. Starter is $49 a month, and Pro is $149 a month. Roster CSV export is included in every plan, but rollout is organization by organization and may require enabling.
