There is no single answer: the service’s contract may give you permission to use a track, while copyright law may give you little or no exclusive ownership. In the United States, a work generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable; a prompt alone does not make you the author. Copyright can cover your human-authored lyrics, arrangement, performance, or other original contributions in a mixed work. The U.S. Copyright Office also says applications containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human contribution. Read the Copyright Office guidance.
Ownership Has Three Separate Questions
What Does The Service Contract Allow?
A platform can grant a commercial-use licence even when copyright protection is uncertain. Treat the plan and current terms as permission to use the file, not automatic proof that you own an exclusive copyright.

What Did You Contribute?
Keep dated drafts of lyrics, melodies, recordings, edits, prompts, and stem work. Those records help you identify the human-authored parts if you register or defend a mixed work.
Whose Voice Or Source Audio Is In It?
Use a voice only with the speaker’s permission, and check rules for uploaded references, samples, covers, and cloned voices. Spotify says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorised it. Spotify’s AI policy announcement.

What These Services Say About Your Rights
| Service | Vendor statement | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Suno | Paid-subscriber songs are yours to keep and use, including background music and album releases. | Free Plan does not include commercial rights; full commercial rights are stated for Pro. |
| Eleven Music | Tracks are cleared for broad commercial use. | Commercial rights vary by subscription tier; the vendor excludes film, television, and studio games from some rights. |
| Loudly | Generated music is described as original, royalty-free, and commercially licensed. | Paid licensing rights depend on the plan terms; free generated tracks are limited to 30 seconds. |
| Mureka | Downloads are offered with full commercial rights across platforms and projects. | Check the current licence for the specific account and release. |
| Musicful | You receive a non-exclusive, perpetual licence for content and monetisation; Musicful retains ownership of generated tracks. | Commercial use is limited to Standard and Pro plans; Free and Basic are non-commercial. |
| OpenMusic AI | Tracks are described as royalty-free, commercially cleared, and supplied with a licence. | Plan terms govern downloads and commercial licensing. |
| Songin.ai | Paid-plan music is yours to use commercially for video, streaming, advertising, and games. | Free downloads are watermarked MP3 files for personal use; multitrack stems require Premium. |
| Tunee | Paid subscribers receive full commercial rights, and Tunee says generated music and videos belong to you. | Free projects are personal-use with attribution; Tunee makes no absolute copyright-protection guarantee. |
| Sunp | Paid plans are the route for commercial publishing and certificate access. | Free use has public songs, streaming-only playback, and no downloads. |
| Beatoven.ai | Each download comes with a licence that lets you monetise content. | Downloads are MP3 or WAV and can be pay-per-track or subscription based. |
| Ecrett Music | Royalty-free music can be used in games, monetised video, podcasts, and advertising. | The licence applies to the individual and is for adding music to content, not distributing the music file by itself. |
| AISongGen | Paid plans provide commercial licensing, with a per-track licence tied to your account. | Free users can create and listen, but downloading, publishing, and monetising require a paid plan. |
Ownership In Common Creation Workflows
A Track Made From A Text Prompt
Save the prompt and the exported file, then verify whether your plan grants commercial use. For example: “Instrumental track for a 90-second product demo, restrained percussion, no recognisable artist imitation.” The prompt helps document your creative direction, but it does not by itself create U.S. copyright in an otherwise AI-generated recording.
Your Lyrics Or Melody Added To The Generation
Keep the original lyric document, melody recording, and revision history. Your human-authored material may be protectable even when the service-generated accompaniment is not. If you submit a registration with more than minimal AI material, disclose the AI contribution as the Copyright Office requires.

Obtain written permission from the speaker before cloning or imitating a recognisable voice. Do not rely on a commercial-use clause to clear publicity, performer, or platform issues. Spotify’s policy requires authorisation for vocal impersonation, and YouTube requires disclosure of realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. Uploaded Audio, Samples, Or Reference Tracks
Use only audio you have permission to upload and transform. Keep the source licence and note whether the output contains recognisable material. A service’s licence to your output does not transfer rights you never had in the input.
Release, Client Delivery, Or Monetisation
Archive the plan name, invoice, licence certificate, export date, and the exact terms in force. Check each destination’s disclosure and spam rules before uploading. YouTube’s inauthentic-content policy targets mass-produced or repetitive uploads rather than AI use itself, while Spotify supports AI disclosures in credits and has removed spammy mass uploads. Practical Reading Of The Individual Options
Suno
Suno is the clearest fit when you want a complete song and a straightforward paid-plan commercial-use path. Keep the subscriber status that existed when you made and downloaded the track.

Eleven Music
Use the tier-specific terms as the controlling document. Before pitching a track for a film, television project, or studio game, confirm that the selected plan permits that use.
Loudly
Loudly’s licence language suits creators placing music inside other media. Do not treat a free 30-second generation as a downloadable commercial master.
Mureka
Mureka’s stated commercial-rights language is useful for multi-platform releases. Retain the download record and check the current account licence before a client handoff.

Musicful
Musicful separates permission from ownership: its licence is non-exclusive and perpetual, while Musicful retains ownership. That means another user could receive rights to a different generation, and you should not promise exclusivity.
OpenMusic AI
Download and keep the accompanying licence proof with the master. Verify the plan’s download and commercial terms before distributing outside the stated platforms.
Songin.ai
For commercial publishing, use a paid plan and retain the account-linked records. Treat free, watermarked MP3s as personal-use material.

Tunee
Paid users receive the platform’s stated commercial licence, while free projects require attribution and remain personal. The vendor also cautions that copyright law is evolving, so a commercial licence is not an absolute copyright guarantee.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A Safe Ownership Checklist
- Identify every human contribution: lyrics, melody, performance, editing, arrangement, and mixing.
- Confirm the exact plan’s commercial and download rights before generating the final version.
- Get consent for every voice, sample, reference recording, or imitation you provide.
- Save prompts, source files, exports, invoices, licences, and terms-page copies.
- Disclose AI involvement where a registration, distributor, or platform requires it.
- Read the destination platform’s current rules before publishing or monetising.
What You Can Honestly Claim
You can claim the human parts you created and the contractual permission your chosen plan grants. You should describe an entirely AI-generated recording as licensed for the permitted use rather than promise exclusive copyright ownership. When a product’s terms do not answer a particular use, check the vendor’s current agreement before release.
