Overview

Journey Builder combines journey mapping with emotional curves, effort-versus-impact prioritization, pain-versus-opportunity balance and moments of truth. Those views help teams compare experience issues and decide what deserves attention; they do not replace the team's judgment about what to change. Any journey can be converted into a service blueprint, with fields for frontstage and backstage actors, support processes and physical evidence. That makes the app more useful to service designers tracing customer experience into operational work than a mapping-only tool.

Ten industry templates cover examples such as onboarding, ecommerce, complaint resolution, B2B and healthcare. The app accepts PDF, DOCX, text and CSV files for documents and customer feedback, but names no third-party customer-data integrations. Exports include HTML, JSON, PDF and PowerPoint; branded PDF and PowerPoint exports start with Starter.

Key features

AI and collaboration

AI can generate personas, journey stages, insights and action plans on paid tiers. Pro and Enterprise also add AI analysis of imported documents and reviews, which may help teams synthesize existing feedback rather than begin with manual mapping alone. Free workspaces have no AI access, and paid plans meter AI through monthly credits. AI runs only when invoked; paid-workspace routing may use configured providers such as Claude, Gemini or self-hosted Ollama.

Role-based workspace access supports team use, but the member ceilings are consequential: Starter stops at three people and Pro at ten, while Enterprise is listed as unlimited. The app and primary data are EU-hosted, and the maker describes Supabase authentication, row-level security and server-side authorization. It offers GDPR-related documents and self-service data export and deletion, but does not claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 EUR per month and includes three journey maps, one user, manual mapping, templates, JSON, HTML, PDF and PPTX exports, and ten version snapshots. It is enough to explore the workflow or maintain a small solo project, but the single-user limit and lack of AI make it a poor fit for collaborative analysis.

Starter costs 29.00 EUR per month, billed €290/yr, with the launch price locked for 12 months. It raises the cap to ten maps and three teammates, adds 2,000 AI credits per month, AI-generated personas, stages, insights and actions, branded PDF/PPTX exports, and 50 snapshots. This is the natural step up for a small team that needs branded reports and AI assistance, though its map and seat limits remain restrictive for larger programs.

Pro costs 79.00 EUR per month, billed €790/yr, with the launch price locked for 12 months. It includes unlimited maps, up to ten teammates, 20,000 AI credits monthly, document and review import with AI, an audit log and stronger AI routing. It suits established teams working with substantial feedback and multiple journeys; the ten-seat cap still leaves larger organizations to consider Enterprise.

Enterprise has custom pricing and offers unlimited journeys, seats and version history, custom AI credits, priority support and an SLA. SSO/SAML is on the roadmap, not a current plan feature. A seven-day trial is offered; the supplied plan terms do not say which tier it covers or state renewal conditions, so teams should confirm those before committing.

Platforms

Customer Journey App runs on the web. Its export choices make it possible to share work in common report formats, but the product itself is not presented as a mobile app.

Who it's for

The strongest fit is CX and service-design consultants, in-house CX/PX and insights teams, and healthcare or service-experience teams that need both journey diagnosis and blueprinting. Solo users can start free, while teams should choose a tier based on map volume, AI needs and headcount. Organizations that require certified SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Diagnostic lenses and service blueprints bring prioritization and operational context into the same mapping workflow.
Pros: HTML, JSON, PDF and PowerPoint exports support both structured reuse and presentation, with branded reports from Starter.
Pros: Free access includes three maps and several export formats, giving an individual room to evaluate the core workflow.
Cons: Free is single-user and manual-only; AI and branded exports require a paid plan.
Cons: Starter's three-person limit and Pro's ten-person limit can force growing teams toward custom-priced Enterprise.
Cons: The maker does not claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, which may not meet some procurement requirements.
Cons: No third-party customer-data integrations are named, so teams should not assume direct connections to their data systems.

Alternatives

Customer Journey Mapping Software is the broader category page for comparing journey-mapping options. Consider Milkymap if a single-user plan and iOS access matter: it has a free tier and a Satellite Pro plan at 9.00 EUR per month for one user. Smaply is another freemium web option; its Free plan allows ten maps and ten personas in one personal workspace, though it has no viewer seats.

CX Impact is a free, MIT-licensed project for readers who prefer project code and can accept that AI agent and model usage depends on their plan. JourneyTrack is a paid web alternative with a 30-day Free Basic period that includes three journeys, one workspace, three editors and unlimited viewers. Custellence offers a Free Forever web plan with two maps and two users, while its Collaborate plan is 199.00 USD per month for unlimited users, maps and viewers.

René Studio is a freemium web alternative with a free tier of three journeys, one collaborator per workspace and 1,000 AI credits per month. UXPressia may suit teams that want a free allowance across journeys, personas and impact maps: its Free plan includes three of each and PNG export, while Pro is 36.00 USD per month per user. JourneyIQ is another freemium web option; its free Starter plan provides one journey, five stages and three AI scans per month.

Verdict

Choose Customer Journey App if your CX or service-design team wants journey diagnosis, blueprinting and report exports in one web workspace, and its EU hosting and role-based access fit your needs. The free plan is a sensible solo starting point, while Starter and Pro add AI and team capacity at clearly different ceilings. Look elsewhere if your organization requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification, depends on named third-party data integrations, or needs more than ten collaborators without moving to custom-priced Enterprise.
