Overview

Docyt combines accounting, payment workflows and business intelligence in a cloud ERP for hotels, restaurants, retailers and franchises. It is strongest for operators who need financial workflows connected to location-level business data; a company seeking only basic bookkeeping may not need its broader scope.

Connections to point-of-sale and business management systems bring revenue, customer and transaction data into Docyt, with integrations spanning hospitality, retail, restaurants, SaaS, ERP and accounting systems. Android, iOS and web access make it usable across office and mobile workflows, though its mobile app is focused on expense management, transaction categorization, revenue tracking and financial reports. The app also offers a free version with in-app chat and document sharing and storage.

Key features

Accounting and reconciliation

Docyt automates revenue reconciliation, ongoing bank and card reconciliation, and month-end close on its ledger. Journal-entry automation and close-task management add coverage around the close, rather than leaving the product as a transaction-matching tool. Accountant Copilot includes AI categorization, bank and card reconciliation, month-end close automation and QuickBooks Online integration at no charge, a useful starting point for accountants or businesses that need those workflows without a paid plan.

Payments and reporting

Bill pay, corporate cards, receivables, vendor management and budget controls bring payment administration into the same suite as accounting. Business intelligence adds daily flash reports, USALI reporting, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning. That range is relevant to hospitality operators that need financial and operating views together; smaller businesses with simpler reporting needs may find less reason to adopt a broad ERP.

Controls and data handling

Docyt says its SOC 2 Type II controls are independently audited annually, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. It says customer data is not used to train models for other companies or sent to public models for training. Its audit trail logs reads and writes, records corrections as new entries, and attaches an explanation and reviewer to AI decisions. Scheduled open-format exports and API access are available to enterprise customers, which is a meaningful portability provision for larger deployments.

Pricing

Docyt uses entity-based pricing. An entity is one legal business or location with its own books, such as a restaurant, hotel property or retail store, so portfolio costs can scale with the number of locations rather than simply the number of users.

Plan	Price and terms	Best fit
Accountant Copilot	0.00 USD per month; billed $0 /entity/mo; free forever	Accountants or businesses needing AI categorization, bank and card reconciliation, month-end close automation and QuickBooks Online integration.
Profitbooks	99.00 USD per month; billed $99 /entity/mo; month-to-month, cancel anytime; 7-day free trial; $50/entity/month per add-on module	Small businesses ready for paid workflows but wanting a cancellable monthly commitment. Add-on modules can materially raise the per-entity cost.
Enterprise Suite	299.00 USD per month; from $299 /entity/mo; annual billing; tier pricing by hotel size	Hotels and restaurants seeking the accounting suite. Its starting price and annual billing make it a larger commitment than Profitbooks.
Custom Suite	Custom pricing and contracts	Multi-location portfolios needing volume pricing, dedicated implementation, priority SLA support or custom integrations.

The free plan is a substantial way to begin with core accounting automation, but the move to paid plans adds cost per entity, and add-on modules on Profitbooks carry their own per-entity monthly charge. Enterprise Suite is priced from a starting point and billed annually, while larger portfolios can seek custom terms.

Platforms

Docyt runs in the cloud and supports Android, iOS and web. Its mobile app covers expense management, transaction categorization, revenue tracking and financial reports, which suits users who need to handle financial tasks away from a desktop.

Who it's for

Hotels, restaurants, retail businesses and franchises are the clearest fit, particularly when accounting needs to cover multiple legal entities or locations. Accounting firms and BPOs are also among Docyt’s intended customers. Businesses that need point-of-sale data feeding reconciliation and reporting can benefit from the connected workflow; a single-location business with straightforward books may prefer a narrower accounting product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Accounting, payments and operational reporting sit in one system, reducing the need to treat these workflows as separate tools.
Pros: Accountant Copilot is free forever and includes reconciliation, close automation and QuickBooks Online integration, making the entry point unusually capable for core accounting workflows.
Pros: SOC 2 Type II controls, encryption, logged changes and explained AI decisions provide concrete governance measures for sensitive financial work.
Cons: Paid plans charge per entity, so costs rise with each separately booked business or location.
Cons: Profitbooks add-on modules cost $50/entity/month each, and Enterprise Suite requires annual billing.
Cons: Enterprise scheduled exports and API access are limited to enterprise customers, which may constrain portability expectations for smaller buyers.

Alternatives

For hotel-focused accounting comparisons, see Hotel Accounting Software. Broader category comparisons are available in Accounting Automation Software and AI Accounting Software.

AccelClose is worth considering when a free plan capped at 100 records and one entity, with manual journal entries and Excel/CSV export, is enough; it does not include AI autofill or live ERP sync. Digits is a paid alternative with a $65.00 USD per month Essentials plan for solopreneurs and early-stage businesses. Double may suit internal finance teams that want unlimited users and its complete platform on an annual flat-rate plan with custom pricing.

WISO Business is a free alternative with unlimited classic and electronic invoices, receipt scanning and a digital archive. Arvexi is another paid alternative. CloseCore may fit teams focused on close management, with a close checklist, document handling, reconciliations and trial-balance file-based reconciliations for $187.50 USD per month billed annually. Concourse is another free-plan option. Finlens may suit smaller operations seeking AI accounting at $49.00 USD per month, with up to $100k/month in expenses, up to three bank accounts and unlimited users.

Verdict

Docyt is a strong fit for hotels, restaurants, retailers and franchises that want accounting, payments and operational reporting tied to their business systems. Its free Accountant Copilot plan lowers the barrier to core accounting automation, while paid per-entity pricing, module charges and annual Enterprise billing deserve close scrutiny for multi-location buyers. Choose it for the breadth of its connected workflows; look elsewhere if your books are simple or you need enterprise-grade export and API access without an enterprise plan.
