In their own words
Helcim
Helcim provides businesses with payment processing tools for in-person and online sales, invoices, and virtual-terminal transactions. Its tools include point of sale, online checkout, payment links, recurring payments, invoicing, a customer vault, and an inventory catalog. In-person payments support major payment types such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Eligible merchants can also accept ACH through invoicing, recurring payments, payment requests, and the Virtual Terminal. Helcim lists integrations with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and WooCommerce, as well as its API and HelcimPay.js for custom integrations and website payments. The Card Vault tokenizes stored payment details for future or recurring payments, while Helcim says it protects cardholder data with AES-256 encryption and TLS 1.2 or higher in transit. It identifies itself as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider. The POS app is available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, with listed device requirements. The processing plan costs nothing, with no account monthly fees; transaction rates vary by volume and payment method.
Paymi
Paymi is an iOS app for eligible businesses, sole traders, and other entities to accept card payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone. Merchants can use an iPhone without an extra terminal or payment hardware. Customers can pay with major debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The app supports bill splitting, tips, automatic discounts and taxes, payment links, and real-time transaction views. Paymi uses Stripe Connect Standard accounts; Stripe manages processing, payouts, disputes, and chargebacks. Paymi says it does not collect or store card or banking information. Listed markets include the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and 16 European countries. Tap to Pay requires a supported payment app and the latest iOS, and may have transaction limits or unavailable markets. The Free plan has no subscription and charges a 1.2% Paymi application fee per transaction, plus Stripe fees. Pro plans have 0% Paymi application fees, while Stripe fees still apply. Pro pricing varies by App Store storefront; UK listings show £9.99/month or £79.99/year.
