Overview

The product brings case histories, documents, communications and progress tracking together, covering workplace complaints, investigations, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans (PIPs) and employee issue tracking. Complaints can arrive by hotline, web form, email, in-person conversation or mobile app, and anonymous submissions are supported. That range accommodates different reporting preferences, though organizations seeking only a basic intake channel may find a full case-management system more than they need.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Pulpstream says it serves mid-market and enterprise organizations across industries including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, insurance and government.

Key features

Case records and investigations

Guided investigation workflows, investigator coordination, interview notes, linked evidence, timelines and stakeholder notifications help HR keep an inquiry organized from intake through reporting. Evidence and interview management, findings and remediation, and an audit log are also supported. These tools suit teams that need a structured record and coordinated follow-up; they are less compelling for organizations with infrequent, informal employee issues.

Discipline and PIPs

Workflows cover counseling, verbal and written warnings, and PIPs, with templates and HR approval routing. Goal tracking and automated check-in reminders help managers carry a performance plan through its follow-up rather than treating setup as the whole process. Manager templates and approval steps can promote consistency, while teams with highly individualized practices may need to configure workflows to fit their own procedures.

Configuration, reporting and integrations

Workflows, forms, email templates, notification timing, role permissions and dashboards can be changed without coding. Customizable dashboards report case volume, status, resolution times and manager activity; Pulpstream says its AI surfaces trends. These capabilities can help HR monitor patterns and workload, but the product does not describe the AI's specific outputs beyond trend surfacing.

The Employee Relations page names Workday, Dayforce, UKG, ADP, SAP, Paylocity, Vector, iSolved, Kronos and Namely, and says other integrations can be built. That is a useful range for organizations using those HR systems, though additional integrations may require a separate build.

Security and support

Pulpstream states that it is SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II certified, HIPAA certified, GDPR compliant as a data processor, and compliant with CPRA and CCPA requirements. Customer data is encrypted with AES-256, traffic uses TLS, and data is hosted in physically secure U.S.-based AWS facilities. These controls may matter to organizations with demanding data-handling needs, but buyers should assess them against their own requirements.

Implementation support covers workflow configuration, integrations, data migration and team training. Pulpstream advertises a dedicated support team of three and 30-minute response times, a potentially useful commitment for organizations rolling out complex processes.

Pricing

Pulpstream offers a Custom quote plan with custom pricing, billed as a flat fee per employee or per user. The product is paid, and a 30-day trial is offered. No subscription term, seat minimum or employee cap is stated, so buyers should clarify the billing basis and trial terms when requesting a quote. Without a published price, smaller teams cannot readily compare costs against simpler tools before engaging with sales.

Platforms

Pulpstream supports Android, iOS, web and Windows, as well as API access. Its app supports offline operation and is available on Android, iOS, Microsoft Surface and web. That mix suits teams working across office and mobile settings; offline operation can help when connectivity is unavailable.

Who it's for

Pulpstream is strongest for mid-market and enterprise HR teams that handle enough cases to benefit from repeatable intake, investigation, discipline and reporting workflows. Its configuration options, HRIS connections and implementation support are relevant to organizations standardizing processes across teams. A small organization with few cases or a need for a low-cost, self-service tool may be better served by a simpler alternative.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad case coverage: Intake, investigations, discipline and PIPs sit within one system, reducing the need to manage separate records for each stage.
Structured investigation work: Coordination tools, evidence and interview management, timelines, notifications and audit logging support a documented process.
Configurable workflows: Teams can adjust forms, permissions, notifications and dashboards without coding.
Mobile and offline access: Android and iOS apps support field access, including offline operation.

Cons

Custom pricing: A quote is necessary to judge affordability, and the per-employee or per-user basis needs clarification.
May be excessive for light use: Organizations with few employee cases may not need its full investigation and discipline workflow coverage.
Extra integrations may require a build: Pulpstream says other connections can be built, which may mean more work than using one of its named HRIS integrations.

Alternatives

FocusOSHR is worth considering when a small team wants a free starting point: its free plan covers up to 10 cases total, with case-management basics, five document templates, five Learning Center lessons and community access. That cap makes it a poor substitute for sustained high-volume case handling.

Donesafe is another paid option with a free trial and Android, API, iOS, web and Windows support. Its custom pricing varies by application modules, worker count and support services, so choose it when that pricing structure better matches the scope you need.

Sodales Employee Relations is a paid alternative with Android, API, iOS and web support; its annual subscription and one-time setup fee are based on employee count. It may suit buyers who prefer that stated pricing basis.

trACT is a paid web-based alternative with a free plan and free trial; the available facts do not establish how its capabilities compare with Pulpstream's.

Civica Complaints Management is a paid option for buyers who want to request pricing, with Android, API, iOS and web support.

Ethicontrol may fit teams seeking a lower-cost published entry plan: Starter costs 99.00 USD per month, with 99 USD/month monthly or yearly billing, and includes unlimited users, admins, employees, messages, cases and reports. It supports API, self-hosted and web access and offers a free trial.

Safecall Investigation Case Management is a web-based SaaS alternative with Android and iOS support and pricing on request.

BoardEffect is a paid alternative with Android, API, iOS and web support; buyers can request a demo and pricing.

Verdict

Pulpstream Employee Relations is a strong fit for mid-market and enterprise HR teams that want one configurable system for intake, investigations, discipline and PIPs, with reporting and mobile access alongside. Its main reason to choose it is the breadth of structured workflows and records in one place. Look elsewhere if a published price is essential to shortlisting or if your organization needs only basic case tracking.
