In their own words
Mako
Mako is a web-based system for fitness studios that combines member-retention review with customer relationship management. It is aimed at studios such as Pilates, yoga, barre and HIIT businesses. Its Pulse workflow compares recent visits and rebooking activity with a member’s usual pattern, then lets staff assign an internal follow-up. Studios can use Mako records or import compatible attendance data from CSV or Excel exports. The CRM organizes customer records, bookings, classes, memberships, invoices, payments, staff and reporting. Clients can book online, while the calendar shows services, staff availability and reminders. Mako describes Stripe payment processing and two-way Google Calendar synchronization; QuickBooks Online is marked in progress. Where enabled, customers can pay by credit card, debit card or ACH bank transfer through Stripe. Pulse has a free plan, while CRM is paid separately. CRM pricing is listed from $159/mo, with introductory offers also shown.
SalonApp
SalonApp, also called Salon Manager, combines appointments, payments, staff schedules, and client history for salon businesses. Its drag-and-drop calendar supports online booking, automated reminders, and no-show protection. Client profiles can keep color formulas, allergies, photos, preferences, and visit history. An AI receptionist can answer calls around the clock in 16 languages and use the live calendar to book, cancel, or reschedule appointments.
The point-of-sale system supports tap, chip, swipe, and online payments, with Square and Stripe integrations; bookkeeping can synchronize with QuickBooks and Xero. Marketing includes email and SMS campaigns, segments, A/B tests, referrals, automated flows, and review requests. Staff tools cover US and Canadian payroll, commissions, time clock, and booth rentals. It runs on Android, iOS, and the web. The free plan allows 15 clients, 20 appointments per month, and one staff member. Paid plans start at $39 a month, and every paid plan includes a 14-day trial with no credit card required to start.
