In their own words

Statcounter

Statcounter provides real-time website analytics covering visitor activity, location, device, navigation path, and visit history. Its dashboard reports traffic sources, engagement, system statistics, popular pages, and exit links. Session Replay lets users review recorded browsing sessions, while interactive heatmaps show attention areas and clicks on elements that are not links. Conversion tracking measures the share of landing-page visitors who meet a site goal, and paid traffic analysis identifies repeat ad clicks by IP address. Google Ads integration connects campaign details with visitor sessions; Premium Plus includes that integration and UTM campaign tracking. Statcounter also offers mobile apps for iOS, Android, and Windows, with alerts when individual visitors return. Installation uses a code snippet, with guides for more than 70 platforms. The free Basic plan covers 5,000 sessions monthly and retains data for 14 days. Premium is €9 per month, billed monthly, and Premium Plus is €19 per month, billed monthly; both cover 20,000 sessions monthly, with three and five years of retention respectively. All three listed plans include zero monthly recordings. A 30-day trial is available.

Umami

Umami is an open-source analytics platform for understanding website and product traffic, campaigns, visitor behavior, conversions, retention and revenue. Reports cover pageviews, visitor metrics, UTM campaigns, real-time activity, funnels, goals, journeys, attribution and revenue. Session replays and click and scroll heatmaps are available on Business and above. Umami says standard analytics uses no cookies, does not track people across websites, and does not collect directly identifying information. Optional features such as distinct IDs, custom properties, revenue tracking, replays and heatmaps can collect additional information when enabled; replays are off by default and mask input fields by default. Customers can choose managed Umami Cloud or host the open-source platform themselves. The free Hobby cloud plan sits alongside Pro at $20 a month and Business at $200 a month. Pro includes one million events monthly and up to 20 websites; Business includes 10 million events monthly, unlimited websites and heatmaps. Cloud event usage includes pageviews and custom events, with excess events billed per event without stopping collection. The platform also provides API access and a read-only MCP server on specified plans or self-hosted versions.
